We at Federico Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram are here to compare the 2018 Jeep Wrangler JK to the new and improved 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL, so you can understand the differences. While the Wrangler always seems to carry its iconic style from era to era, it still undergoes significant changes throughout the interior, mechanical capabilities, and safety features. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to give us a ring at 618-421-4180. We would love to chat with you!

First of all, let's explain a few of the differences inside of these two SUVs. You'll notice that inside of the JL, you and your passengers will have extra room to stretch out. You won't have to worry about bumping into one another with 57.7 inches of shoulder room in rear seats. On the other hand, the JK only provides 56.8 inches of shoulder room for those seated in the back. In addition to that, the JL also comes with more headroom for you and your copilot, measuring at 42.6 inches, while the JK only gives you 41.3 inches. Of course, we couldn't forget to mention that the JL provides you with the available ambient LED interior lighting that creates a magnificent illuminating experience. Unfortunately, this lighting isn't an option inside of the JK.

We couldn't leave you guessing about the differentiation of mechanical capabilities. The available engine block heater in the JL comes in handy during those bitter cold winter months. All you have to do is plug in a few hours before you leave, and you'll be ready to take off when it's time. Sadly, the JK doesn't have this feature available, so you'll have to wait for your engine to warm up before you leave the house. While both the JK and JL come standard with 4WD, the JL has Selec-Trac Full Time 4WD System available, providing you with a constant grip to the ground beneath you. In addition to that, you can opt for the 8-speed automatic transmission in the JL for the smoothest gear changes, while the JK only has the option for a 5-speed automatic transmission.

Finally, there are far more safety features in the JL compared to the JK. For example, the JL comes standard with Advanced Brake Assist1 that applies pressure to the brakes to prevent an accident from occurring, while this feature is nowhere to found when it comes to the JK. The JL also boasts the standard ParkView® Rear Back Up Camera2 to help you get out of a crowded parking lot, but you won't find this feature in the JK. We couldn't forget to mention the JL's standard Trailer Sway Damping that will help keep your trailer of off-road vehicles in line when you make a quick turn. Sadly, this isn't available for the JK, so you'll need to make sure you're very cautious when hauling a load behind you.
